Dr. Ayesha Kamal
Psychotherapist

After completing my Ph.D. in 2012, which focused on the impact of language and culture on identity development, I joined the teaching field where I worked as an English instructor for over 20 years, including 14 years at Kuwait University. Although still actively involved in the academic field, I sought to play a greater role in women’s empowerment and overall wellness through teaching women physical self-defense, running empowerment-related seminars, and leading journaling workshops. This effort is part of my natural passion to help people (particularly students) discover their personal strengths, enjoy a more fulfilling life, and improve their overall wellbeing. As a psychologist, my main areas of interest include: managing stress and anxiety, improving focus and discipline, increasing motivation, resolving interpersonal issues, coping with grief and loss, and boosting self-esteem, self-confidence, and self-image. I am also a certified DBT trainer and I run group sessions for adolescents and adults. I also have a particular interest in women’s health with a specific focus on how abuse, narcissism, and neglect can have an impact on their mental wellbeing. Furthermore, I am very interested sports psychology and the exploration of how one’s mindset can impact athletic performance, speed up injury recovery, and boost training results. I see anyone aged 15+ and I conduct therapy in English.
